We lounged around the apartment this morning after sleeping late again and then walked down to do buy a few things. We went to the bakery, and the grocery store. Our usual bakery is closed for vacation right now, so we have to walk a little further. But it’s still close by, just around another corner. And the bread is good and the people are nice, letting me stumble through speaking French even though I’m sure they speak great English, and know I’m not French.
Most people buy at least one baguette every day. I think they cost anywhere from 1.50 to 2 Euro depending on the bakery. After more than a day, any decent French baguette turns into a baseball bat, so you really can’t stock up even if you wanted to. We buy one today and eat most of it for lunch as sandwiches.
There are a few chores to do, just usual stuff you would do anywhere, like vacuuming. We drop some baby stuff off at the thrift shop. Someone will be very happy to have it, and we certainly don’t need it anymore. And you have to stay vigilant about not holding on to stuff when you live in a tiny apartment.
It feels like I’ve been running around all day. So I’ve been looking forward to heading down to Cagnes sûr Mer for a run and a swim late this afternoon.
It’s not hard finding a parking place yet, one of the parallel spots right next to the beach. I grab the bag from the trunk to put on my running shoes and notice that I forgot to bring running shorts or a bathing suit. I do have shoes and socks, so that’s good, and a swim shirt, but I’m wearing regular khaki style shorts.
Oh well, I put on my socks and shoes, and the swim shirt, and just go with it anyway. Sam scooters, and we go 1.5 miles up the beach and back. It’s hot but not too bad even in the wrong shorts. And then we both plop in the water to cool off.
We love reading your journal, but where are the pictures?
Hi G&G! You should see a photo in the header of this one. I’m trying to post more photos in the content but on days like this it’s a little slow. Just wait till tomorrow though!
